Kumurdo Cathedral

A cathedral on the Javakheti Plateau, built in 964 by Bishop Ioane during the reign of King Leon III of Abkhazia. Located 12 km from Akhalkalaki. It is an outstanding example of medieval Georgian architecture with rich ornamental decoration and inscriptions in the ancient Georgian Asomtavruli script.
